UBA Foundation National Essay Competition – Kids Talent Show

UBA Foundation National Essay Competition – Kids Talent Show –  is mainly for all secondary school students in Nigeria. UBA Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, has announced call for entries for the 2016 edition of its annual National Essay Competition.  the competition provides a competitive platform to develop the intellectual and writing abilities of senior secondary school students.

The essay competition provides an opportunity for students in senior secondary schools in Nigeria to win prizes in form of educational grants.

How to Apply UBA Foundation National Essay Competition – Kids Talent Show

  • Applicants should send in handwritten essay entries of not more than 750 words on the above topic to UBA Foundation, UBA House (3rd Floor), 57, Marina Lagos. Applications can also be sent to any UBA Business Office in Nigeria for onward delivery to UBA Foundation.
  • Applicants must submit their complete contact information (name & address of school, telephone number, residential and email addresses).
  • Applicants must attach photocopies of their original birth certificates or international passport data pages.
  • Applicants must be senior secondary school students schooling in Nigeria.

Prize to be won in UBA Foundation National Essay Competition – Kids Talent Show

  • The first prize for the UBA National Essay Competition is a N1 million educational grant for the winner to study in any African university of his or her choice.
  • The second and third prizes are N75O,OOO and N5OO,OOO educational grants respectively.

Entries close on Friday, 4th November, 2016. Late entries will not be accepted

According to Ijeoma Aso, the Managing Director/CEO of UBA Foundation explained that the competition was part of the Foundation’s initiative to promote creative and analytical thinking among senior secondary students in Nigeria.

And across Africa and a follow up on the Foundation’s Read Africa initiative, which promotes reading culture among students through mentoring and free distribution of Africa literary classics in secondary schools.

According to Ijeoma Aso, she said entries received for the competition will be reviewed by a distinguished panel of judges made up of professors from reputable Nigerian Universities, who will then shortlist 12 best essays for further assessment.

A second round of the competition will involve the 12 finalists who will write a second supervised essay from which three best essays will be selected.

“Three best essays will be selected as the overall winners from 12 finalists that will emerge from the first round of the competition” said
